By channeling high-pressure air up and over the windshield, the S-Duct system generates measurable front end downforce and high-speed stability.

Track Spec Hood Airflow Simulation

The simulation perfectly visualizes the journey of the air using the colored smoke trails. Instead of the air hitting a solid front bumper and creating drag—or worse, spilling underneath the car and creating lift—the custom components manipulate the airflow to push the car into the track.

• The Front Grill (High-Pressure Intake): As the Corvette moves forward, the air hits the very front of the car (the stagnation point), creating a zone of extremely high pressure. Your custom open front grill acts as a massive scoop, intentionally swallowing this high-pressure air rather than letting it build up against a flat surface.

• The S-Duct (Internal Channeling): Once inside the grill, the air is aggressively channeled upward through internal ducting (the "S" shape) rather than being allowed to flow under the chassis.

• The Hood Vent Exit: You can see a distinct blue/green airflow stream erupting from the large vent in the custom hood. This illustrates the accelerated air being evacuated from inside the front fascia and directed smoothly over the top of the windshield and roof.

## Why This Increases Front Downforce

The S-duct hood and open grill combination creates downforce through two primary physics principles:

1. Reversing Lift via Pressure Differential In a standard street car, air trapped in the front bumper or shoved under the engine bay creates high pressure underneath the nose, which lifts the car up at high speeds. By venting that air out through the top of the hood instead, you drastically reduce the pressure under the front end. Simultaneously, the air flowing rapidly over the hood pushes down on it. This combination (low pressure under the nose, high pressure on top) literally sucks the front tires onto the pavement.

2. Newtonian Downforce (Action and Reaction) Because the S-duct forces a massive volume of air to abruptly change direction and shoot upward out of the hood vent, physics dictates an equal and opposite reaction. The force required to push that air up pushes the front end of the Corvette down.

## The Added Bonus: Feeding the Rear Aero

If you follow the smoke trails exiting the custom S-duct hood in the render, you will notice they stay tightly attached to the car's greenhouse (windshield and roof). By smoothly evacuating the air over the top of the car, the S-duct actually cleans up the turbulent boundary layer. This ensures that a fast, smooth, and predictable stream of air is delivered directly to that massive rear wing, improving the aerodynamic balance of the entire vehicle.
